Australian election betting trends
Isn’t it marvellous what you can have a friendly punt on. Election betting is diversifying away from the simple “who will win the next election” to a range of other bits and pieces.Sportsbet are offering odds on whether Kevin Rudd will be sacked or resign before the next election:
When the market was framed, the odds were $1.10 for no and $6.00 for yes. With Rudd’s position looking very fragile at best, punters took to the “yes” and that is now into $3.00 with no out to $1.33.
There are at least 7 betting agencies betting on the election outcome which this far out from polling day, is open to significant change.
Disclosure: I have no bet on the any election trend since 10 January 2012.
